I really hope SyFy's commitment to the Expanse is strong, because unlike Game of Thrones, The Expanse can't afford to be too lackadaisical about releasing new content... heck, there might be 10 books by the time season 5 comes out.

They seemed certain of a 2018 release, but I hope at the start of the year. A year and a half turn around per season is a bit much, and at the speed they going, it would be like 5-6 seasons before they catch up to Babylons Ashes.
Also, giving time to the series, might give it the time needed to pick a following like Game of Thrones. I didnt pick up Game of Thrones till Season 4 on TV. I've had a hard time geting people into the series. The first Episode of The Expanse, while i think its great , it throws alot of subtle information at you, and unless you are like me who Wikipedia the crap out of something to understand it, you might not get whats going on. I dunno.
I really just hope that they contintue creating content past season 3. I think thats SyFys usually gets to a thrid season then really decides to prolong a show. I dont know to much about SyFys shows, but Defiance only lasted 3 seasons. Though it kinda went down hill at parts.
All good points.
I like to think SyFy sees The Expanse as a tentpole show, but the ratings haven't been smashing and every network needs buy in from advertisers, even HBO.
I wish Netflix rather than Amazon Prime picked up the streaming rights. While I rewatched season 1 on Amazon and bought season 2, The Expanse would of got more exposure on Netflix. I watched Dark Matters on netflix and ended up liking it. I only watched The Expanse at the start cause it got alot of advertisement when the first season came out.
I feel exactly the same way. Ironically, Netflix does have streaming rights outside US/Canada (and NZ?). I find Amazon's UI awkward and misleading, so I prefer things on Netflix. I started watching The Expanse somewhat into Season 1, because the marketing was just so-so and I HATE cable TV.
Amazon's UI has improved, I do like the rewind/forward 15 second buttons. Its like 1000% than CWtv.com video player. (for when i wanna watch flash/arrow/legends)
