On May 26, 2018, Amazon officially acquired The Expanse for Season Four and beyond.[1]
It was renamed to Amazon MGM Studios in May 2023 after a merger with MGM Studios.
Differences from Syfy[]
According to showrunner Naren Shankar, moving to Amazon will have the benefit of fewer restrictions on things like nudity, language, and length to some extent.[2] The show will benefit from potentially a bit longer playing time if needed and a more seamless experience due to lack of breaks.[2]
