Were you looking for info on the novella of the same name, Auberon, from the book series?

Auberon is a planet accessible through the ring gates.

Description[]

Auberon has a lush biome that grows native and Terran crops. The planet has 12 cities, each having populations in the millions but also has many towns, farms, and more scattered around the planet. Its capital is the city of Barradan where the Xi-Tamyan Agricultural Concern and governor's office are located.[2]

Reputedly, it has developed technology that converts local material to substances that Terran biology can use. It served as Naomi Nagata's base of operations as the head of the Underground after the Slow Zone catastrophe.

The planet's moon has a lunar base that transports its goods throughout the Auberon system.

History[]

Before Laconia's capture of the slow zone, Auberon's population was developing a universal polypeptide cross-generator. This was a mechanism that would convert biospheres into one that humans would be able to eat from. With this technology, it was believed that within ten to fifteen years that this would allow Auberon to bypass the Sol system's monopoly on soil and farming substrates.[3] After the Earth-Mars Coalition Navy and Transport Union forces were completely defeated by the Laconian battleship Heart of the Tempest, Auberon was one of the early supporters of the new Laconian regime.[4]

Biryar Rittenaur is appointed the Laconian governor of the planet by high consul Winston Duarte. His wife, Mona Rittenaur leads the research into developing soil compatibility between that of the planet and of Earth. The criminal organizations on the planet led by Erich, who tries to bribe Biryar but fails to for some time. This is until they ultimately make a deal to replace certain Laconian personal with Eric's own people in key positions while he helps assassinate Major Lester Overstreet.

Planetary conditions[]

Daylight Cycle[]

Auberon's sunrise to sunset lasts a little over four standard hours, with cycles of light and darkness changing only slightly with the seasons. By local convention, day is two cycles of light and one of darkness, night the reverse. Noontime on Auberon is always dark, and midnight is bright.

Atmosphere[]

Auberon's air smells of Indole,  technically 2,3-benzopyrrole. Just a couple carbon rings and some nitrogen. The local biome thrives on it bit it gives the atmosphere a sewer smell.

Biology[]

Flora[]

The planet has nummerous plant species, including huge sessile tree-like organisms and massive fungi that lift red streamers above them.

Fauna[]

Various lifeforms roam the planet including avians like the Ratdove and the Auberon Pigeon, as well as large, pale creatures that swim through Auberon's oceans.
