The Freehold system is one of the planetary systems connected to the Ring network. It was colonized by humans after this ancient network of wormhole gates was re-established by the Ring Station.
History[]
Freehold is a system where the settlers adhere to a strict policy of individual rights and responsibility. All first settlers came from Earth.[1]
Initially led by governor Payne Houston, he is unseated by Semple Marks after a dispute with the Transport Union.[4]
The Rocinante crew escape back to Freehold at the end of Persepolis Rising based on Clarissa's recommendation.
The second planet in the system is uninhabitable, due to high concentrations of nitrogen and cyanide in its air.
