The Kittur Chennamma (ECS-211) was a Morrigan-class patrol destroyer of the Martian Congressional Republic Navy (MCRN) that served in the UN-MCR War. During naval combat, the ship was critically damaged in an engagement with United Nations Navy (UNN) forces that crippled the ship, killing the majority of its crew. The ship was later left derelict and abandoned by MCRN forces, deeming it damaged beyond repair.

“United by War” — "Reload"[]
During an unspecified battle against United Nations Navy forces, the Kittur Chennamma was disabled early in combat, the entire forward third of the ship—including the command deck—being completely destroyed. The main body recieved a railgun impact that further destroyed life support systems and water supply, rendering the vast majority of the ship's environment either open to the vacuum of space or unable to produce more oxygen.

Running low on PDC (Point Defense Cannon) ammunition, James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante board the Kittur Chennamma (AKA the "KC") to scavenge its remaining munitions. Whilst onboard, it was discovered that there were survivors; three were rescued and received treatment onboard the Rocinante. These were identified as Ensigns Sinopoli, Loftis, and Ranhofer, the three of whom later attempted an unsuccessful hostile takover of the ship when they discovered who their rescuers actually were.
The Chennamma was repaired enough to safely return to an MCR-controlled area and was given back to its remaining crew along with a message to give to their C.O. from Chrisjen Avasarala which she asked for them to send to UNN Admiral Souther. This message contained evidence of Undersecretary Sadavir Errinwright's treason and details of the illicit war now being fought.[2]
"Triple Point"[]
The Chennamma was discovered and its surviving crew recovered by the MCRN Hammurabi; after disembarking its crew, the Chennamma was abandoned and left derelict.[3]

- Kittur Chennamma is named after Rani of Kittur (Rani is Kannada for "Queen"), a former princely state in Karnataka who led an armed rebellion against the East India Company in the year 1824.
