The Lazy Songbird is a long-haul transport shipping people between Luna and Ceres.
Description[]
The ship looks like a giant garbage can with a drive cone on one end and an ops deck on the other. It has twelve decks and can accommodate fifty people on each deck. [1]
Passenger Accommodations[]
Each deck has fifty bunks, each consisting of a crash couch with a small storage compartment under it and a tiny entertainment screen on the bulkhead next to it.
Each deck also has a male and female head and a commissary. The commissary on each deck is equipped with vending machines with drinks, food, and snacks and personal hygiene items. Each head has a line of sinks, five flimsy plastic showers, and ten vacuum flush toilets. The open space in the middle of the head has benches for sitting while waiting for a turn in the shower or for dressing afterward.
Shipboard Security[]
Security personnel monitor travelers on each deck through cameras. If there is a fight or other problem they release knock-out gas into the compartment and when everyone is unconscious they tie up the perpetrators for the rest of the trip.
Notes[]
- Amos Burton Books • TV used this ship to travel to Earth to investigate the death of Lydia Allen Books • TV.
- In the opening title sequence of the TV episode "Exodus", the Lazy Songbird can be seen departing from Tycho Station, not Ceres.
