Church of Humanity Ascendant, a religion that eschewed supernaturalism in all forms, and whose theology boiled down to 'Humans can do better than they are, so let's do that.'
— {{{2}}}

Santichai Supitayaporn and his wife Melissa represent the Church of Humanity Ascendant.

Appearance Edit

A frail wisp of a man with thinning white hair and stick-like brown fingers. Tiny. Members of his church were known to wear loose orange robes.

History Edit

Background Edit

Santichai and his wife, Melissa, are an octogenarian couple native to Earth who coordinate and provide relief on Ganymede for survivors as part of their missionary work representing their secular humanist organization.

The couple also ran the relief depot headquarters with the ruthless efficiency of natural-born dictators.

He chastises Holden saying the OPA promised "twenty-two thousand kilos of protein" and delivered twelve. He tends to poke Holden while doing so. Holden is unable to deflect physically or figuratively since he didn't plan what was loaded onto the Weeping Somnambulist when the crew of the Rocinante brought that vessel to infiltrate blockades of the planet.[1]

Notes Edit

  • The TV version of this couple (Santichai & Melissa) apparently
    1. eliminates the affiliation with the church,
    2. changes the spelling of their last name,[2] and
    3. replaces their ten years residence on Ganymede with instead a life of hauling relief goods as owner/operators of Weeping Somnambulist.[3]
