Appearance[edit | edit source]
History[edit | edit source]
Background[edit | edit source]
Sematimba was born on Eros and worked as an inspector for Protogen until Eros's contract switched to CPM.
Sematimba and Miller coordinated a particular ugly case. A smuggler with cargo of designer euphorics had broken with his supplier. Three people on Ceres had been caught in the crossfire, and the smuggler had shipped out for Eros. The traditional competitiveness and insularity of the stations' respective security forces had almost let the perp slip away. Only Miller and Sematimba had been willing to coordinate outside the corporate channels.
Eros Incident[edit | edit source]
When the crew of the Roci was involved in a firefight at a flophouse, Miller calls Semi to help them stay out of jail and show him the corpse of Julie Mao.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Unlike the television adaptation, Sematimba was not a childhood friend of Miller. He was not born on Ceres like Miller.
- While Sematimba did meet Miller at the flophouse in the book incarnation and he did demand Miller stay on Eros, he did not join the Rocinante crew during their flight through the tunnels. He had used his authority to lock down the ship but that was the last mention.
- Miller did not contact Sematimba before arriving on Eros in the book incarnation of the story. Instead, it was information that Havelock provided Miller about the Rocinante flight plan that prompted Miller to book passage to Eros after canceling a fare to Tycho.
- In the books, Miller didn't get his hat from Sematimba. In fact, Miller brought the hat from Ceres to Eros in the books, unlike the TV show.
