The Sol gate, also known as the Ring and Sol ring gate, is a protomolecule construct which was created by the remnants of Eros once it left Venus after an incubation period within the crater there.
Overview
It is a wormhole gate part of an ancient network built by the Ring Builders. It connects the Sol system to the rest of human-colonized space.
History
The Sol Ring activated when a Belter piloting the Y Que attempted to pass through as part of a slingshot maneuver
The second ship to pass through it (and first to do it with an alive crew) was the Rocinante.
