Staz was a hardened OPA faction leader employed on the docks of Tycho Station who believed that the Belt should gain its independence from the inner plants by violent means. He tried to incite a mutiny against Fred Johnson for control of recovered nuclear warheads launched by the United Nations after the Eros incident so that they could be used to inflict catastrophic damage on Earth. He was killed by Camina Drummer after a failed attempt to force Fred Johnson to hand over the codes for the Earth missiles.

Biography[]

Staz was a Belter living on Tycho Station. He was friends with Diogo Harari.

Throughout the series[]

During the Assault on Thoth Station taking place as part of "Doors & Corners", Staz is part of Miller's crew.

Staz and Diogo escort prisoners to their holding cells when they return to Tycho from Thoth during "Static". They later find Miller at the Blauwe Blome bar and promise throw a big party for him since he killed Dresden. After they all are asked to leave, knowing Miller has no scrip, Staz helps lead Miller back to stay in Diogo's quarters.

During the placement of explosive ordnance on Eros which takes place as part of "Godspeed", Staz puts Miller's EVA suit's face mask on for him.

As the system pays homage to Miller and watches Eros collide with Venus knowing the former detective from Ceres will never return in "Home", Staz gives Diogo his belter neck tattoo.

During the OPA conclave held as part of "The Seventh Man", Staz interjects to demand the missiles be divided among the factions instead of what Fred, Holden and Anderson Dawes seem to agree on - return them to Earth.

When Diogo is brought back through the docks after being caught as the decoy for Anderson Dawes' plot to recapture Paolo Cortázar, Staz is present and he questions why Diogo is being treated as a hostile belligerent. Staz is later part of the group that Edin reshares a condemning message from Anderson Dawes to Fred Johnson. Staz leads the assault on the Tycho command center attempting to take the missiles from Fred and Drummer during "Pyre". When that ultimately fails, Drummer executes him.
