The Tau Ceti system is the closest planetary system with a solitary G-type star (which is the same class as the Sun, to which it is spectrally very similar) to the Sol system, at a distance of just under 12 light-years away. It has at least one planet that has potential for life.[1]

Prior to the Eros incident Books • TV, the Tycho Manufacturing and Engineering Concern was building a generation ship called the Nauvoo at Tycho Station, which was meant to carry Mormon colonists to the Tau Ceti system for possible settlement.
