Trying was the designated governor for Royal Charter Energy settlement on "New Terra", but was among those that perished in a shuttle crash when making the initial descent from Edward Israel. The crash was caused by a resistance group made up of the original settlers from the Barbapiccola, who detonated explosives underneath the shuttle's landing pad. Although the original goal was to merely destroy the landing pad without hurting anyone, the shuttle made it's descent sooner than expected. Basia Merton detonated the explosives early in an attempt to avoid casualties, but the shuttle was still heavily damaged and forced to crash-land.
